CIO Exec Series Research and Advisory Day – remote ‘kill’ mobile laptops
Saturday, June 6th, 2009THis was a very productive day. I met with 3 of my CIOs today for a field day of research and listening. The topics that I covered were in line with what this cross industry group wants to focus on for the balance of 2009 – Cloud Based Computing, Advanced Virtualization, and Social Networking in the Enterprise. Jim D. has questions about the big three VoIP vendors that he is looking to make a decision on. Collaboration in this decision is very important to him. I also connected Chris B. with Mike R. regarding laptop security and “Cloud Based” laptop backups. Laptop in the cloud backup is a very creative and useful way to ‘force’ backups of hard to manage mobile users. There is also a James Bond type ‘remote kill’ feature for run-a-way laptop which is perfect in case the CEO’s laptop gets heisted. No matter how much Social Media is helping with communication and collaboration, there is nothing that beats sitting down face to face with someone and listening.
